How to Convert HEIC to JPG
If you've ever emailed an iPhone photo and the other person couldn't open it, you've met HEIC. It's the high-efficiency format Apple uses to save space — but lots of apps, websites, and Windows programs still can't read it. Converting to JPG fixes that instantly.
Why iPhones use HEIC
HEIC files are roughly half the size of a JPG at the same quality, so your phone fits more photos in the same storage. The downside is compatibility: JPG is understood by virtually everything, HEIC is not.
Convert it free, in your browser
- Open Vootkit's Image Converter.
- Drop in your .heic file and choose JPG as the output.
- Click convert and download — your photo now opens anywhere.
The conversion happens on your device. Your photo is never uploaded, so even sensitive pictures stay private.
Tip: stop your iPhone saving HEIC
If you'd rather avoid converting each time, open Settings → Camera → Formats on your iPhone and choose Most Compatible. New photos will save as JPG automatically.
